A Carver's Son, One Room,
A Single Chisel
K R Exports began in 1962, when our founder opened a one-room workshop on the outskirts of Jodhpur, Rajasthan. The city had been a centre of wood carving for centuries — the jali screens of its palaces and the doors of its havelis were all made by hand, by families who passed their tools and techniques down through generations.
Our founder was a carver's son. He knew how to choose a piece of sheesham by its grain, how to read where a knot would sit, how to set a chisel to follow the wood rather than fight it. Within a decade, his work was being shipped to merchants in Europe, who recognised what buyers back home often did not — that the patience and skill of an Indian carver was rare in the post-industrial world.
Four Collections, Endless Variation
Today our catalogue spans four broad collections — tables, seating, storage, and decor & lighting. Each piece is still made in our Jodhpur workshop. We use sustainably sourced sheesham (Indian rosewood), mango wood, and reclaimed acacia. Our carvers come from families who have shaped wood for generations, and each carries the weight of inherited technique.
- Tables — coffee, console, dining, side & nesting tables, with hand-carved aprons and turned legs.
- Seating — sofas, lounge chairs, dining chairs, bar stools and poufs, built on kiln-dried hardwood frames.
- Storage — sideboards, bookcases, dressers, media units and trunks, with hand-forged iron hardware.
- Decor & Lighting — brass lamps, jali-cut lanterns, candleholders, sculptures and curated home objects.
We don't make furniture to fill rooms. We make pieces that carry the patience of the carver, the grain of the wood, and the weight of three centuries of tradition — so that what fills your room also fills the room with a story.
